December Activities Report-OSC Pherzawl

MONTHLY PROGRESS REPORT FOR THE MONTH OF DECEMBER 2021

SAKHI ONE STOP CENTRE-PHERZAWL.

  1. AWARENESS:

i) On the 11th December 2021, the staff of OSC went on an awareness programme to Thanlon on One Stop Centre (SAKHI) and Violence Against Women And Girls. The meeting was held at the Chief’s residence and started exactly at 7:30 p.m with an opening prayer from Ms.Thianhoih .There were 42 participants out of which 6 were male. Mr. Thangchinkhup, Security Guard of OSC, Pherzawl field office briefly introduced the staffs and purpose of the meeting. Ms. Grace introduced herself and what made her start the NGO. She has been running OSC Churachandpur for the past 14 years and has dealt with 47 cases which helped women in distress of all sorts drawing back to why such centre’s exist. Any victim of violence or aggrieved women or girls can avail temporary shelters, medical assistance and can visit the OSC anytime or call the helpline number provided to avail others who are not aware of it. Ms. Siam, Consultant gave a speech and explained about the Violence against Women. VAW does not mean only about physical violence but also about emotional violence. The OSC provides psycho-counselling and also covers mental harassment. Anyone that has mental depression by being abused can always represent to OSC. The staff pasted posters as part of the campaign along the surrounding villages like Thanlon and Joutung.

ii) The staffs of the OSC started from Thanlon to Joutung for awareness program on 12th December 2021 .The program started exactly at 7:00 a.m in the morning with an opening prayer from Ms. Chingnunmoi, LAD President, UPC.It was held at the Chief’s house. There were 45 participants all female. Mr. Thangchinkhup, Security Guard of OSC, Pherzawl highlight about the event and Ms. Siam took time of introducing the meaning of VAW describing in details the various forms of abuse or violence against women and girls prevailing in the society. Ms. Grace introduced about the One Stop Centre and praised the Joutung villagers how they were exactly on time. DC Pherzawl Joseph was invited to attend the programme conducted at OSC Churachandpur.

iii) The team of the One Stop Centre Pherzawl went for an awareness programme on 29th December, 2021 to Leijangphai. Three staffs of the OSC Pherzawl i.e Ms.Lalkim, Ms.Cindy and Ms.Chinghatzo went for the awareness program. The staffs pasted posters as part of activity along surrounding areas. The program started at 5:30 p.m. and was held at the Chief’s residence. There were 35 participants all female, Ms.Lalkim conducts the program and briefly introduced the staff and the purpose of the program. Ms. Cindy, Case worker, OSC Pherzawl had a speech on One Stop Centre, its meaning. Ms.Hatzo, Counsellor explained about Violence against Women and its types. Refreshment is provided in the meantime and Ms. Hatzo encouraged the village women to be a strong mother and be courageous so that abuse based violence is less and for that the OSC exists. She ended the program with a word of prayer .The village women were thankful that such centres exists and ask for phone number of the staff  apart from the helpline number provided for further counselling and interaction.

iv) On the 30th December, 2021, the staffs went to Tuikumuallum for spreading awareness on the One Stop Centre and its role. The program was held at the Chief’s residence along with 30 participants out of which 4 were male along with the Chief.The program started at 8:22 a.m. and Ms. Lalkim had an opening prayer and conducts the program .Ms. Chinghatzo, Counsellor took time in introducing the OSC’s meaning and purpose. The OSC will always support women and give assistance to women affected by violence. Cases like trafficking, stalking, abduction cases are often encountered. She briefed about violence faced by women and the abusive impacts it laid emphasis on. Refreshment is provided at the end of the program. Ms. Lalkim concluded the program with a closing prayer. The attendee departed after photo session.

v) On the 30th December 2021, Ms. Lalneilhim, Case worker, OSC Pherzawl had an awareness program on One Stop Centre (SAKHI) & Violence against Women. The program started at 5:40 p.m. and Ms.Buongmoi had an opening prayer. There were 15 participants, Ms.Lalneilhim had a speech on OSC and how it is managed. The OSC provide services in aids of temporary shelter, police assistance, medical assistance, legal aid, counselling. Women who face difficulties within the family, being abused, can always report to the OSC. The OSC can provide medical assistant, counselling is provided too. After a detailed explanation on the OSC, the program ended with closing prayer from Ms. Lalneilhim .Refreshment is given ,the attendee are satisfied with the program as there is close interaction and  is more convenient.

vi) Ms. Lalneilhim had an awareness program at Pherzawl on the 31st December 2021 in the morning i.e. 8:18 a.m. There were 12 participants, the program was held at the Local Pastor quarter. She herself conducts the program and had a speech on Violence against Women. She highlighted about the OSC and its significance. VAW is physical, mental and verbal abuse to women and girls. Women felt that being abused is natural but it should stop. Such cases of abuse, violence encountered can always report to OSC. With this, the program was concluded with a prayer from the local Pastor.

vii) On the 28th December,2021 Ms. Teresa Case Woker, Pherzawl organised an awareness campaign to Students of Pherzawl village, a total of 65 students participate in the awareness program.

  • 2. STAFF ORIENTATION:

i) On the 9th December,2021 , at 11p.m ,the staff of OSC Pherzawl organised an orientation program at OSC Head Office,CCpur. There were 12 members including the newly recruited staff.Ms. Grace ,Centre Admin talks about the different projects under AWCA such as Charity school(for children in distress),NERCOMP project at Sangaikot,Ujjwala Scheme (victims of human trafficking) and the latest project i.e. One Stop Centre., to help out women in distress.She further explained about the nature of the work and how it is engaged.Then  further action plans were discussed and the program was concluded.

ii) On the 18th December,2021  at  OSC Head Office, Ms. Grace ,Centre Admin had an orientation training  on topic  Documentation for Case Workers with Ms. Cindy and Ms. Lalneilhim.The training started at 1:00 p.m . Ms.Grace trained  on how to work with cases, how to keep training minutes.After deep discussion on how to handle cases ,the training ended.

iii) On the 19th December, 2021, 12:00pm at OSC head Office, Ms. Grace, Centre Admin had an orientation training on the brief meaning and function of Sakhi One Stop Centre. All Staff of OSC-Pherzawl participate in the training program.

  • 3. OBSERVATION:

On the 16th of December, 2021, at 5:30pm Staff of OSC- Pherzawl and churachandpur jointly observed Nirbhaya Day at OSC Churachandpur office, HQ Veng, CCpur. During the observation, Ms. Lamdeichiin Case Woker of OSC CCpur made a declarationof the Nirbhaya Day in Solidarity of the deceased and declare the date as “ Solidarity Nite to the victims of Gender based Violence. During this observation, all staff of OSC do a candle lightning and the observation was concluded with light refreshment.

  • 4. POSTER/STICKER PASTING:

A team of OSC-Pherzawl staff pasted poster at different location/village with in Pherzawl district during awareness program also, at public places within the surrounding areas of the district. During this poster  pasting 10 villages are covered within pherzawl district.
