January Activities Report – OSC Pherzawl

MONTHLY PROGRESS REPORT FOR THE MONTH OF JANUARY 2022

SAKHI ONE STOP CENTRE – PHERZAWL

1. AWARENESS:

i). On the 25th January 2022, the staff of OSC and Childline staff went on an awareness program to Thanlon on SAKHI One Stop Centre. The program started at 8:20a.m. and was held at the Chief’s residence. Mr.Thangchinkhup, Security Guard of OSC Pherzawl had an opening prayer and conducts the program. There were 23 participants. MS. Grace explained the functions of the OSC and shared the particular roles of the staff. She talks about human trafficking, domestic violence, and the scheme of the OSC which is mainly for women. Refreshment is provided in the meantime. Mr. Lianzalal talks about child marriage and encouraged one and all to be careful in each and every aspects of life.

ii). The staff of OSC went to Pherzawl for an awareness program on the 25th January 2022.It was held at the Chief’s residence and started at 7:10pm.There were 15  participants. Ms.Ruthi had an opening prayer followed by staff introduction from Ms.Grace. She explains the importance of the OSC and what makes her so keen in this project. She talks about dowry system and gender equality. Mr.Lianzalal talks about the needs of confidentiality in which the OSC possesses. Refreshments were provided and Ms. Famkim closed the program with a prayer.

iii). The OSC staff went on an awareness program on the 25th January 2022.The program was held at Pherzawl Community Hall. There were 30 participants, it started at 8:40 pm. Ms. Grace acquaint the OSC functioning and the scheme it covers like rape, domestic violence, human trafficking, child marriage, etc. Since the awareness rate is still low, the OSC team will continue creating and apprehending awareness in each and every village of the district. Mr.Lianzalal closed the program with a word of prayer.

2. STAFF ORIENTATION:

  1. The staff of OSC organised an Orientation training program at OSC Head Office on the 10th January 2022 at 10:30pm. There were 17 staff present and Ms. Grace had an opening prayer. MS. Lynda Suantak, Legal Assistant presents a topic on “Crime against Women”. Ms.Chinghatzo, Counselor had a topic on “Mental Health”. Ms. Grace, Centre Admin had a briefing on One Stop Centre functioning and confidentiality. Refreshments were provided and with this the program was concluded. 

ii). The staff of OSC had orientation training on the 22nd January 2022 at OSC Pherzawl office.at 11:35 pm. Ms. Cindy, Case worker had an opening prayer and was followed by introduction from all the staff. There were 15 participants. Ms. Siam, AWCA Consultant had a speech on “Volunteerism, Philanthropy, and Charity”. Ms. Grace, Centre Admin briefed on further activity plans and how to interact with intervention of cases. The training was also followed by dedication of Office and Vehicle with Pherzawl DC as a Chief Guest. Refreshments were provided and the program was concluded.

3. CASE INTERVENTION:

a) Guardian and ward: Domestic violence: Ms. XYZ visited the OSC CCpur seeking help on the 17th December 2021 at 11:30 am. She was often abused verbally and humiliated by her husband. The husband was intoxicated with drugs, didn’t wish to comply with divorce after customary meeting of both families. She wants custody of the child and divorce settlement. The OSC provided psycho-social counseling in regards to this case.

b) Temporary shelter and psycho-social counseling: On the 31st January, 2022 at 10: 42 am. Ms. Cindy, a Case worker encountered a drunken woman lying down on the street. The woman was provided temporary shelter at the OSC Pherzawl office. After she was sober, she was given psycho-social counseling aid by the Counselor.

4. POSTER/STICKER PASTING:

The OSC Pherzawl staff pasted posters as part of an activity during the awareness program. It covers different villages within Pherzawl district, along surrounding areas like public places.
