Observation of International Women’s day

The 1st Churachandpur Women’s Football Tournament was conducted on the occasion of International Women’s day with a theme “Dare to Shine” on 8th March, 2018 on this historic day to be the first of its kind in the history of Churachandpur District at Lamka Public Ground initiated by The Action for Women and Child Advancement (AWCA) with the support of Churachandpur District Sports Association (CDSA) and in partnership with community based headed by women organisations and Lenlai Club. Circular has been circulated in different areas from 23rd February, 2018. Entry forms were kept at four different places. There were around 20 teams who took the entry form but of which only 16 teams turned up for the meeting. The lists of 16 participating teams were:

The tournament was held on 2nd March till 8th March, 2018. The opening ceremony was kicked off by Rev. Stephen Chinzathang, Senior Executive, ZPCS. On the 2nd March, the opening ceremony was graced by Shri. Shyam Lal Poonia IAS, DC Churachandpur District as Chief Guest, Shir Col. Mithun K Sheety, Commandant 25th AR as Guest of Honour and Shri. Rakesh Balwal IPS, SP Churachandpur District as Functional President. The football tournament lasted for 6 days with 16 participating women football teams. The First match was played between Rayburn High FC and Tuaitengphai Youth Athletic Union (TYAU). All 16 participating teams played in the knock our round. The football tournament lasted for 6 days.

Lenlai Club (Red) became the first club/ team to be crowned the first ever International Women’s Football Tournament held at Lamka Public Ground and Tuaitengphai Youth Athletic Union as Runners Up. The most discipline team was awarded to Nurses FC for their fair played. WINNER TROPHY was given with MEDALS and a cash prize of Rs.10000/- (Ten thousand) only with Certificate and the Football used in the tournament as memento for the Winner Team (Signed on the Football by Chairperson of the committee) same goes with the RUNNERS UP TROPHY, MEDALS with a cash prize of Rs.5000/- (Five thousand), Certificate and a Football used in the tournament as memento for the Runners up Team (Signed on the Football by Chairperson of the committee). Consolation prize was also given to all participating teams with one football each and a participation certificate.

 

The 1st International Women’s Football Tournament Individual awardees are:

Best Player:                                         Kimkim (Jersey No. 12) (TYAU)

Top Scorer:                                          Nengthennei (Jersey No. 11) (Lenlai Club Red)

Promising Player:                                Nieng thiankim (Jersey No. 14) (FC Zomi Colony)

Best Keeper/ Golden booth:               Tinneithem (Jersey No. 1) (Lenlai Club Red)

On the Semi Final Day, 7th March, Pu Khaipao Haokip, Chairman ADCC and Pu Langkhanpau, Ex Chairman ADCC were the Chief Guest and Functional President respectively and other ADCC members were the Guest of Honours. On the main day i.e., the 8th March,WOMEN’S DAY , just before the Final Match ,few moment of Observation of WOMEN’S DAY was held.

The Observation moment was graced by wives of the district’s Minister and MLAs as:

These respected women were invited as GUESTS on the day to show honour for the sacrifices they had made towards the achievements of their husband in electoral politics for CCPur District. The moment was also spent in giving away the “1st CCPUR WOMEN DAY ACHIEVER AWARDS “.

 

The Organising Team declared 2018 as “EDUCATION YEAR” so awarded 9(Nine) women as WOMEN’S DAY ACHIEVER, 2018 AWARDEES as a recognition and honour for their achievements in education.
